The Division Will Allow Players To Report Cheaters Next Week

April 7, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Cheaters are running amok in The Division. A new update will allow you to report them.

Ubisoft is introducing a new player reporting system into The Division to allow players to report instances of cheating. This will allow Ubisoft to deal with anyone who’s cheating and ban them. Ubisoft has since outlined the measures it will take against both first-time cheaters and repeat offenders, which includes permanent bans.

In their State of the Game presentation, Ubisoft’s Yannick Banchereau said that first timers will receive a three-day suspension while those who cheat a second time or more will be permanently banned.

The Division has server-side detection systems now, but some players still manage to bypass these defenses with ever-evolving hacks for the game. Having players be able to report these cheaters will greatly improve the quality of the game’s health.

“We are not going to pretend that we are 100 percent happy with the situation,” said the developer. “It is something we’re working on, and we should have some better solutions coming in the future. We are looking at improving it. We are catching a lot of people, so it’s not as if there was nothing being done, but of course we can always improve on that.”

He added that there will be instances where reported players aren’t actually guilty of cheating so players shouldn’t get too upset if someone they think is cheating (but really isn’t) doesn’t get banned for simply being well-geared.

The new patch arrives on April 12 for PC.
