Splatoon 3 Side Order Gets New Trailer

September 14, 2023 by Todd Black

A new adventure awaits!

The Nintendo Direct for today got off to a hot start as they revealed a new look at the Splatoon 3 Side Order content! If you recall, this is the second part of the game’s Expansion Pass. The first part was bringing players back to the OG location of Inkopolis, which was nice, but this content is much more profound. And by all accounts of the trailer, this will be an all-new way to play the game! From the enemies you’ll be fighting to the game’s plot revolving around Pearl and Marina, and more! This is definitely going to be something special.

Based on what we see, you will play a new character that gets sucked into a world filled with order. This is a direct reference, no pun intended, to the last Splatfest from the previous entry, where the topic was “Order vs. Chaos,” and Chaos won. According to Nintendo, you’ll be in the “Spire of Order,” and your goal will be to work your way through it while also powering up your character. But that’s still not all that the expansion is offering. You’ll be assisted by a drone that Pearl voices, and it appears Marina has been taken!

Thankfully, a new character named Aucht wants to help, and she apparently knows Marina! So what is going on here? We’ll have to wait and find out. However, the way that your character grows will depend on you, and thus, you’ll have the opportunity to tune your character the way you desire. Nintendo said that they made this content so you could play it “over and over again.” That would fit the series’ theme while adding a new element to things.

As for the enemies, they’re definitely not the kind of creatures gamers have faced in the series previously. Furthermore, you’ll see the damage that you’ll do to them as you strike. That is likely for players who want to see their damage and how much their improvements do for them.

The Splatoon 3 Side Order content will arrive next Spring, so you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get it. But even despite that not-so-good release window, the game has plenty to offer players leading up to them. There are still Splatfests going on, with one just happening last week! Plus, Drizzle Season has just come out, offering new stages, weapons, clothing, and more for players to enjoy.
