The Dark Souls franchise is one of the toughest of recent years and in order to beat it, developer From Software has created some truly impressive weapons throughout the series.
In preparation for Dark Souls 3’s launch on April 12th, publisher Bandai Namco has tasked the blacksmiths from the Man at Arms: Reforged YouTube channel with making the iconic greatsword of Astorias, which they do with aplomb in the above video. It may very well be their best work to date.
You can check out our review roundup for the game here. The game’s launch trailer was released late last month and showed some of the characters and locations that players will visit.
Though Dark Souls 3 is already available in Japan, fans worldwide will have to wait until next week to get their hands on the game across the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In my hands-on preview of the game last September, I wrote:
“The improvements which have been made in terms of the dynamic lighting and particle effects (ash plays a big role) are clear to see, while the “expertly crafted” interconnected world offers far more seamless online interactivity.
“Dark Souls II disappointed some but Miyazaki’s touch is obvious in the short demo I played and there are plenty of reasons to believe the third instalment in the franchise may well be the best yet.”
Those who pre-order the game on Xbox One will receive a free copy of the original Dark Souls. You can watch the game’s opening cinematic here.
