UPDATE
According to a press release from Konami, the remake will have the original voice actors. Whether that means they’re reusing old audio or bringing back certain characters to expand certain roles remains to be seen.
ORIGINAL STORY
Plenty of rumors led up to the PlayStation Showcase that happened today. One of the biggest ones was that of a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. This was so prevalent because there were numerous rumors and reports that stated it was coming. But given that Hideo Kojima isn’t with Konami anymore, many people wondered if the company would bring back the franchise or let it lay after what they did the last time. But, after a very unexpected teaser at the showcase, we can confirm that the game is coming, and it’s not coming alone!
Based on the small clip of Naked Snake that we saw, the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will look beautiful on PS5. It’s important to note that the teaser didn’t say it was exclusively coming to PS5. What they did say was that it was simply “coming to PS5.” That would imply that it might come to Xbox or PC, though obviously, they didn’t confirm that.
For those who haven’t played the original game or its ports, this is one of the most beloved entries in the franchise by Hideo Kojima. However, even he’s said this is one of the best, if not the best, in the franchise. The game doesn’t follow the Solid Snake from the previous two games, but the man is known as Naked Snake before he became the “Big Boss.” Through him, we see all the events that helped lead to the creation of Foxhound, the Metal Gears, and so many other things.
Many people loved the title because it really embraced the spy genre in a fun way, harkening back to the days of the Cold War and showing off what things were like when the tech wasn’t the best. You even have to eat basic creatures to stay healthy and energized.
Then, there are the boss fights. The third entry had arguably the best boss fights in the game as you fight off certain soldiers with special abilities and need to do unique things to get around them. One can only imagine how they’ll look on PS5.
While we have much to be excited about, it’s not the only thing to look forward to. After the teaser, they announced that the “Metal Gear Collection” would arrive on PS5. That means you can play the original games on PS5 for the first time.
So if you’re a fan of these games, you have much to look forward to despite release dates not being announced.
