The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Reportedly Coming To Market This May

March 23, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to follow Gollum through an epic tale.

Update:

It looks like the date is now officially May 25, 2023, thanks to a report by Gematsu. However, it’s worth noting that this title won’t hit the Nintendo Switch until sometime later in within the year.

Original Story…

The Lord of the Rings franchise is genuinely a massive one, and over the years, we’ve seen not only the novels but films and even video games released into the market. Now there seems to be a new resurgence in the franchise, with Amazon bringing out a new prequel series to the franchise and even video games coming into the marketplace. One of the games that will tell a story untold is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. With Gollum being an iconic character, there are bound to be plenty of interested The Lord of the Rings fans intrigued about what went on with Gollum between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

That tale will be told apparently this June. We knew that the developers at Daedalic Entertainment had pinned this game for a release sometime in 2023. However, we haven’t been given an official release date. Now it looks like a report from Famitsu has this game coming out on June 22, 2023. This is just a report from the publication, and we’re still waiting on the official release date announcement from the development team. But if this ends up being the case, the game will be launching into the marketplace against some heavy-hitting releases.

Final Fantasy XVI is one of the biggest titles that will be launching on that same day, which might potentially hurt interest in picking up The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Of course, this is just speculation, as again, we’re waiting on the release date to be revealed officially. At any rate, those eagerly awaiting the game’s launch might have something to look forward to playing in the next couple of months.

Meanwhile, we have you covered for those of you who haven’t been keeping tabs on the game. In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, players take the role of Gollum after the events of The Hobbit. Seeking the one thing that is most precious to him, Gollum is driven out into new areas in search of his ring. However, this journey will take him to far more dangerous regions than before. You’ll need to stick into the shadows, use your cunning and decide how to best get out of a deadly situation by whatever means possible.

When The Lord of the Rings: Gollum does finally hit the store shelves, you’ll find copies available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch platforms. In the meantime, you can check out a game trailer for the upcoming title in the video we have embedded above.
