Season: A Letter To The Future Gets Story Trailer, Character Descriptions

January 16, 2023 by Todd Black

Who will you meet on the last journey you have?

There are often many criticisms regarding the entertainment side of our world. Why? In recent times, whether it be movies, TV shows, and video games, originality is not something that many push for. Instead, many seek to “milk franchises” to the bone to get as much money as possible from them and then maybe do something “new” next time. So when a title comes around that feels like something original, unique, and potentially beautiful, people pay attention. One such video game title is the upcoming Season: A Letter To The Future. A game about exploring and recording life before the world ends.

In the game, the cycle of life and death within the world is tied to seasons. One such season is about to end, and a young woman is determined to see the world before it ends. But, just as important, she wants to meet the people who inhabit parts of the world to learn more about them and record their thoughts, lives, and memories in hopes that they’ll never be forgotten.

On the PlayStation Blog, the Creative Director for Season: A Letter To The Future, Kevin Sullivan, discussed the title and some of the characters you’ll meet. He talked about how the game likes to use your five senses to help you feel and understand how complex the world is around you. Your main character lived in a small village their whole life, so they’re seeing the grand open spaces of the world for the first time. The game ties many functions to the player’s ability to “see through the characters’ eyes” and beyond.

Then, there are the characters you meet. In a new story trailer, we hear from the main character and find they go to a small village where people reside before an evacuation.

Some characters you meet include a young boy who must say goodbye to the village he grew up in. You’ll also meet an artist who has made sculptures of the valley where these people reside. There’s also a monk left behind by everyone he knew, and needs something new to connect with.

These are only a few of the people you’ll meet within the game, and as the trailer notes, if you don’t record their lives, their stories, they’ll be gone forever when the season changes.

So if you’re looking for a different gaming experience, try Season: A Letter To The Future when it arrives on January 31st on PS4, PS5, and PC.
