This Is When You’ll Get To Play DOOM’s Closed Beta

March 9, 2016 by Stephen Daly

A new multiplayer gameplay trailer has also been released.

id Software and Bethesda have released a new multiplayer trailer and confirmed the dates of the upcoming closed beta for DOOM.

Players who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order and redeemed their beta code will be able to access the closed beta from March 31st until April 3rd on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. More information on what to expect from the beta is available on the dedicated web page.

The Warpath multiplayer mode, DOOM’s take on king of the hill, was revealed and detailed last month. At the time id Software said “The constant motion adds a unique twist to the gameplay, spurring players to move just as quickly as they do in single-player. It’s frenetic, fast and a heckuva lot of fun.”

The developer also recently confirmed that the shooter will output at 1080p and 60fps on all platforms and said they hope to create the best looking game performing at those levels. Using id Tech 6, the development team’s artists can “make our characters and environments more realistic and stunning than ever before.”

DOOM will be released on May 13th for all three platforms. If you pre-order the game digitally on Xbox One, you’ll receive free copies of the original DOOM and DOOM 2. Details about additional pre-order bonuses and the game’s collector’s edition can be found here.

Publisher Bethesda recently hosted a competition to decide the game’s alternative reverse cover by popular vote. The decision came after the reveal of the original cover, which many considered to be disappointing.
