Battleborn is gear(box)ing up for its launch in May, and developer Gearbox has released information on the final two combatants that will be playable in the game. The first-person class-based shoot-em-up features a roster of 25 playable characters, and now we know who the final two are: Kleese and El Dragón.
Kleese is the newest fighter to join the Last Light Consortium faction. He joins the team as the resident “wise old man in a hoverchair.” Part eccentric mage and part mad scientist, Kleese uses his wrist cannon and shock taser to fend of enemies directly, while his Tactical Battle Chair (yes that’s really what it’s called) provides him with a host of more support- and debuf-oriented abilities. His Energy Rift and Tactical Battle Chair special abilities deal damage to enemies while buffing the shields of nearby teammates, while his Energy Mortar ability, and his Black Hole ultimate ability, are great for dealing massive AOE damage to clustered enemies.
The other new challenger to enter the ring is El Dragón. Also fighting for the Last Light Consortium, El Dragón was a successful gladiator before an accident left him with comically oversized robot arms that just happen to be perfect for class-based pummeling. His cybernetic robot arms grant him both direct melee as well as short-range crowd-control attacks against opponents. His special abilities: Clothesline, Dragon Splash, Undisputed Champ, and his ultimate ability, En Fuego, demonstrate his immense crowd-control and high-output DPS prowess. El Dragón seems like a perfect choice for any smash-happy players out there.
Battleborn will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 3, 2016.
