We’re ready to be injected with more plasmids as the hype and anticipation continue to build for the next major installment of the BioShock franchise, BioShock 4. It’s been a long while now since we’ve seen anything from that franchise, and it makes a bit of sense. After the release of BioShock 4, the development studio known for mainly handling that IP had been disbanded. Irrational Games was responsible for BioShock and BioShock Infinite. After BioShock Infinite launched in 2013, the studio had a restructure, leaving fans wondering what the future would hold for the beloved IP.
Fortunately, we know that 2K Games is still pressing on with BioShock. There’s even a newly formed studio handling this game called Cloud Chamber, which was founded in 2019 and headed by Kelley Gilmore. Unfortunately, while we know the studio is handling the next BioShock title, we have yet to see it fully showcased. The only thing we know right now is that the studio is developing the next installment, and that’s about it. But today, we have new information regarding the game, and that’s the individual responsible for taking the lead narrative position.
Liz Albl has taken to Twitter and alerted followers that they were thrilled to announce their recent employment to Cloud Chamber. More specifically, Liz noted that they were taking the narrative lead regarding the upcoming BioShock franchise. If you’re unfamiliar with the individual, you’ve likely played some of Liz Albl’s past video game projects. They have been a writer across several big IPs and installment hits, so you could look back at past projects to get an idea of what Liz Albl has previously accomplished.
According to their blog, the past works in which Liz Albl was an involved writer included Watch Dogs Legion, Ghost of Tsushima, Far Cry 5, Far Cry 4, and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. Now the pressure is on to deliver a thrilling BioShock experience after fans have been waiting on a new installment since the conclusion of BioShock Infinite. Currently, we don’t have a premise or any marketing materials for the upcoming BioShock project, but that could change soon. There are The Game Awards later this evening, so perhaps we’ll finally get a slight tease of the game. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait for some kind of announcement hopefully before 2023 officially wraps.
