The soccer World Cup officially kicks off on November 20 in Qatar, and although the competition is quite a controversial event, it is still set to attract huge viewing numbers right around the world. To coincide with the World Cup, EA is advertising the World Cup mode for its new FIFA game, and an official FIFA World Cup deep dive trailer has just been released.
FIFA 23 was officially released back in later September, and the reviews for the game have been extremely positive, with some people saying that it’s the best FIFA game for several years, which wouldn’t take much. Once upon a time though, during the run-up to every World Cup, EA used to release a completely separate FIFA World Cup game, but that trend has been broken recently because the game can now be played for free if you have a copy of FIFA 23.
The game mode will allow players to experience soccer’s biggest tournament in FIFA 23 with all 32 teams, as well as an authentic matchday experience, and the chance to play your own way in online, offline, live, and custom tournament modes. All 32 teams currently have generic squads in the game, but once every country reveals its World Cup squads, the game will be updated with all these changes to make the experience as authentic as possible.
Since the tournament began back in 1930, no World Cup has generated as little excitement as this year’s event. The decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar came under great scrutiny, with people claiming (and rightly so) that FIFA allowed this to happen through illegal methods. Plus, the decision to hold the competition during winter for the first time ever has not been received well by players and fans. It means that the majority of leagues around the world will be halted while the tournament takes place, and then resume again at Christmas.
Regardless of the controversy surrounding the real-life competition, the game version should be a lot of fun, as it always is. As you can see in the FIFA World Cup Deep Dive trailer, you will be able to have a lot of fun with several game modes, including a FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team concept.
For all you US soccer fans out there that will be following the hopefully bright adventures of the national team, your tournament kicks off on Monday, November 21 when you take on Wales in the country’s first game.
