Octopath Traveler II Gets New Trailer For Characters

November 2, 2022 by Todd Black

Who shall we meet today?

Octopath Traveler II is coming next year, and the game trailers have shown familiar things and new elements. For example, the game will feature eight brand-new protagonists. The classes in the original game will be the same, but the people who wield their abilities are much different. That means eight brand new stories are about to be told when the game comes out, and you should be prepared for what the game will offer. Thankfully, a new trailer has emerged that highlights two of the characters and how things will be different in the sequel.

First in the trailer is Partitio, the Merchant. His journey is one of using his merchant skills to benefit all. He was a part of a pioneer town that went boom and then bust because of the greed of others. Now, he aspires to make places better by giving them fair deals and ensuring that such greed doesn’t take over once again. He’s very much an idealist, and yet, he’s 100% dedicated to his mission.

Two of his special abilities were also shown in the trailer. First, he’ll be able to buy items from anyone he meets, giving you more access to items and materials. He can also recruit people for his personal journey and, through them, get deals and advantages to benefit others.

Then, there was Osvald, the Scholar. He is a man who was once very reputable but was then sentenced to prison for the death of his wife and daughter. Osvald was innocent, though. He used his time in prison to figure out how to escape it and seek revenge, specifically, revenge on the man known as Harvey, who did all he could to steal Osvald’s life. This is a far cry from the story of the last scholar we met; as a result, all the other stories will be just as different.

Through his intellect, Osvald can discern details about the people he meets or the enemies he faces. He’s also not afraid to be a criminal and mug people for valuable items.

The trailer for Octopath Traveler II also focused on the world and combat systems. Unlike in the first title, you’ll be able to travel around the world on both land and sea. You’ll even get to partake in rare events and fight unique monsters only found at sea as you travel.

Then, there are the “Latent Abilities” of the eight protagonists. Each has unique abilities that will charge up when they take damage or cause a “break” in the enemy defenses. Using them can help you take out enemies more quickly or help boost your party.

There’s still a lot to learn about the title before it arrives on February 24th, 2023.
