Dragon Ball Super Reveals Official Art For Beast Gohan

October 20, 2022 by Todd Black

His power unleashed

It’s been a few months since the release of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in the West, and fans are still talking about the franchise’s advancements through the successful film. The movie was the first to embrace 3D animation, giving a literal new dimension to things. It also was a film that gave Gohan and Piccolo the spotlight over other classic characters so they could show off their power and save the day. For Gohan, this was a move a long time coming and something that fans had been begging for, for quite a long time.

After all, at the end of the Cell Saga, it’s implied that Gohan would have to rise up to take his father’s place and be the hero of the world. But that didn’t happen. Instead, Gohan took the life of an average human. He went to college, eventually met his wife in Videl, became a teacher, had a daughter in Pan, and so on. But, as we saw in the Dragon Ball Super anime, he was so out of practice with fighting that he almost died because of a reborn Frieza and had to go all out in training to be ready for the Tournament of Power.

That “disparity” was brought up again in the new movie by Piccolo, who was mortified by the lack of training Gohan had. So, he helped accelerate certain events so Gohan would finally push himself. However, things got out of hand, leading to Cell Max’s arrival. Cell Max was a mindless brute with uncontrollable power and threatened to destroy the entire planet. Thankfully, in their time of great need, Gohan was able to achieve a new form, Beast Gohan. A mode that looked dang cool and gave him the extra power needed to put Cell Max down. Yesterday, an official piece of art of Beast Gohan was dropped.

Pretty cool, right? But that’s not the only art shown recently. Two days ago, the contents of the Blu-Ray Special Edition were shown, including the cover of the Blu-Ray and the art book inside.

The special edition comes out on December 7th, so if you’re a franchise fan, you’ll definitely want to get it.

The question now is, what’s going to happen with the anime next? At present, we don’t know. There are plenty of rumors about what might happen next, but nothing substantial just yet. With the success of the movie, plus fans wanting the series back ASAP, it goes without saying that there’s motivation to keep Dragon Ball alive. A recent rumor even said that a new weekly anime was in development. But, no word from Akira Toriyama or the team at Toei Animation just yet.
