The upcoming Dead Space is a remake of the sci-fi survival horror game that garnered plenty of fans when it was first released over a decade ago. This new remake being helmed by developer Motive Studio and published by Electronic Arts has been known for quite some time, and the development team has been remarkably open about showing behind-the-scenes development footage earlier this year. Now, at long last, we finally have a full gameplay trailer to enjoy, and it came with the news of a collectors edition to boot. The new gameplay trailer can be seen below.
The Dead Space collector’s edition is being made by Limited Run Games but it’s worth noting that the items provided in this version of the game will release after the official release of the game itself. The collector’s edition will set you back a pricey $274.99 but it comes with a lot of goodies to attempt to make up for that value. It includes a copy of the game for your chosen platform, a collector’s box, and a physical and wearable Isaac Clarke helmet that has working lights. Beyond that, it also comes with a CD for the game’s soundtrack, four mini-posters, a foil-stamped lithograph folio, and a lithograph print. Finally, players who go all out to get this edition will receive a steelbook for the game, a marker enamel pin, an Ishimura patch, and a Metal 4-inch Marker statue.
Dead Space follows the story of an engineer called Isaac Clarke who was on a routine mission to help repair a starship called the USG Ishimura. However, the ship was infested by the terrifying Necromorphs, and he has to survive this sci-fi nightmare with only the improved engineering tools at his disposal. The Dead Space remake has been made using the Frostbite Engine and the developers have promised to stay true to the vision set out by the original game while adding in some modern touches to improve upon it as well. A rebuilt graphical presentation and audio design are a part of this, and the developers have also talked about changes to Isaac’s dialogue and potential references to future games in the series. In addition, there are also changes to how zero-gravity combat will play out.
The official gameplay trailer describes the remade journey as follows: “The sci-fi survival horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up to offer a deeper and more immersive experience. This remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity and suspenseful atmospheric audio, as well as new gameplay content and improvements while staying faithful to the original game’s thrilling vision.”
Dead Space will be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 on January 27, 2023.
