With one week to go before the release of Street Fighter 5, Capcom is doing its bit to keep fans on board the hype train with a new full-length CG trailer that’s heavy on guitar riffs.
While there’s no actual gameplay in the video, the art direction is instantly familiar to fans as it reflects the game’s aesthetic and it does expand on upon some of the footage we’ve seen in the past.
Details about the game’s story were announced in January, Street Fighter 5 will offer the usual arcade fighter’s story mode with a number of battles and some backstory offered in between. The game’s full story will be released in June as a free update that will offer a substantial amount of new content.
Executive producer Yoshinori Ono described the first type of story as follows in an interview, “This is not going to be typical illustrations; this is going to have in-game models, everything will happen in real time, and it’s also going to have an hour plus of cinematic content.” He stressed that the full story will be offered to everyone who owns the game as free content this summer.
In between, fans can expect the first DLC character to be released in March. Ono has previously said that Capcom has a five-year content plan for the game but cautioned that things may change once it’s released.
Street Fighter 5 is due for release on PC and PlayStation 4 on February 16th. There are no plans to release the game on Xbox One. For more on the game, follow our Street Fighter 5 tag.
