Can you believe The Sims are 16? It seems like it was only yesterday I was abandoning my Sim children in a pool and removing the ladder just to watch them drown. Well I mean it was only yesterday, but the point is I’ve been doing this for like, half my life now. To celebrate this milestone in virtual mischievous fun, EA and Maxis have released a set of anniversary items that players can download for free for The Sims 4, one from each of the past three games.
From the original Sims is the clown painting, which when hung will cause nearby Sims to weep in its proximity.
From the second game, the secret Grilled Cheese aspiration, a personality trait and life goal for your Sims that basically amounts to “make 200 grilled cheese sandwiches”. Maxis has always made grilled cheese something of a running joke in the series, and it is rumored that employees at the time were awarded the classic sandwich as a kudos for reaching certain development milestones. Bon appetit!
From The Sims 3 is the Kleptomaniac trait, which in the not too distant past used to liven up a Sims game by making some sticky fingered Sims prone to swiping everything in their surroundings.
Also included in this free update is the gardener NPC, who in earlier versions of the game could be called on the phone and hired for daily maintenance. Later Sims games focused more on gardening and planting, and this is likely why he was taken out, so as to balance the skill. You can catch a pic of him in our header at the top of the post.
Personally I’m a big Sims fan and I love it when they release new free content. I would love to see the return of the monkey butler from the original console version of The Sims. What legacy content would you like to see make a comeback?
