Assassin’s Creed Mirage Officially Confirmed By Ubisoft

September 1, 2022 by Todd Black

That’s not mirage, it’s a real game

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been on a roll as of late, and there have been all sorts of rumors about what would happen next within the series. First, there were rumors of a MASSIVE new title that might be called Assassin’s Creed Infinity, and then there was another rumor of a bit smaller title. Finally, one that would try and reflect on the origins of the franchise once again. Leaks came out eventually, and now, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next title to be coming out. But that’s not the only information we got.

Because aside from the debut image for the game that you can see above, the title was also revealed to be getting a detailed breakdown at the next Ubisoft Forward event. This will happen on September 10th, so just over a week away. But that’s still not too long, given that the game was just officially revealed and likely won’t be released until either later this year or early next year. It just depends on how far the game is in terms of development.

Now, the question is, what kind of Assassin’s Creed title will it be? Well, based on what we see in the image, it’s clearly got a Middle-Eastern/Arabian feel. There were even rumors that a pre-order bonus would be “The Forty Thieves Quest,” which is obviously a reference to Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves story. It’s also been loosely confirmed that the main character in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is going to be Basim, whom we met in an expansion DLC from the Valhalla title.

This would honestly coincide with one of the rumors about the game, mainly that the title was going to be a “smaller” game that focused on a character that we had just met. In this case, Basim. Furthermore, the rumor about the title is that it will focus more on a stealth aspect than the more open-world and action-focused titles that have come before. That shouldn’t worry a lot of you because, remember, these guys are ASSASSINS! They’re supposed to be stealthy and sneaky, ok?

Yes, it’s been cool to go and do massive raids with Vikings or to go into full-scale wars as part of a platoon of Spartans, but that’s not exactly what these games are meant to be about, now are they? So a return to form might be the best, especially for a smaller game.

Obviously, a lot of this is just speculation, but you have to think that Ubisoft knows that they can’t keep “one-upping” their previous titles. After all, that’s how they got in trouble with the series last time. Guess we’ll find out on the 10th.
