How much longer do you expect to wait for Cyberpunk 2077? It may not take much more than a year at this point.
A source at GameReactor Germany claims that CD Projekt RED is aiming to finish the game by late 2016. Work on the game started in the middle of 2012, and now that development of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt has wound down, there’ll be more hands to polish the game up and get it released in rapid succession.
Our source also speculates that, just like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If this is true, it is possible that those ports could hold the game’ release date back.
Even if the latter speculation is true, however, this may have been faster than gamers expected CD Projekt RED to finish. Three years remains a reasonable time frame to finish a game, but The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt’s development process actually started after Cyberpunk 2077, and it looks set to get all its DLC finished before it as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 looks to be the longest game CD Projekt RED has worked on to date, but given their promises of it also being their most ambitious game, it may well be worth it.
