A new interview with the game director for the upcoming action game Gotham Knights has revealed that players will get an excitingly large world in which to test out their superhero skills. As reported in IGN, Gotham Knights‘ director Geoff Ellenor revealed some further details about the game’s world setting in a conversation with Game Informer.
Fresh off the game’s latest gameplay trailer reveal at Summer Game Fest, the hype is certainly starting to build for the newest installment in the DC game universe.
According to the report, Ellenor explained that the Gotham City players will encounter in Gotham Knights is on an entirely different scale than what players may be expecting based on the last game in the series, Batman: Arkham Knight. He explains that the new version of the iconic city is “pretty big. I haven’t put one map over the other, but our Gotham is a big place.”
Fleur Marty, the game’s executive producer, elaborated a bit on the scope of the city as well as one of the best methods of world traversal.
For sure it’s the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games. The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers. The Batcycle is the long-range mode of transportation.

If this new map is bigger than the huge open-world environment players were treated to in Batman: Arkham Knight, then fans are definitely in for a treat. Gotham Knights picks up the story in a post-Batman world and players will be stepping into the roles of the remaining Batman Family members in order to protect Gotham City from threats. The game features Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood and looks set to be a big hit with DC fans when it launches later this year.
Gotham Knights is set to release on October 25th. It’ll be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
