The question of transition is one that has come up a lot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Endgame. After all, between real-life and in-universe events, the Avengers aren’t who they used to be, for better and for worse. Iron Man is dead and Chadwick Boseman passed away from cancer leaving Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to go on without him. As for Captain America, he chose to have a life with Peggy Carter in the past and thus left his shield to Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie).
That transition played out in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. At first, Sam didn’t want the shield because he felt he couldn’t live up to what Steve (Chris Evans) had done before. By the end of the series, he had wielded the shield and saved the day. Just as important, Marvel Studios has confirmed that Captain America 4 will happen with Mackie as the lead in the future.
Chris Evans talks life post-Marvel (“I’ve shed like 15 pounds… Every time people see me, they’re like, ‘Are you okay?’”) and Anthony Mackie taking over as Captain America (“No one better to do it. He does it justice”). pic.twitter.com/5w1tx3HS4h

The original Cap, Evans, has nothing but praise for the new man in the suit:
“There’s no one better to do it. I mean, he honest does it justice,” Evans said. “I’m so proud of him. I can’t wait to see what they do in the future with it. But if there’s any tear shed [about the role], it’s just for the sweet memories I had.”
Indeed, Evans and Mackie had many movies together, and that connection is something that fans watched unfold via the MCU in Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame.
We aren’t sure when the fourth film will arrive, but we’re happy to see that it’s in good hands.
