Binding Of Isaac Creator Apologizes To Fans, Explains Update

November 5, 2015 by Carlos Chism

In a Reddit post, he tries to quell outrage over the missing game content.

After responding to fans on Twitter about the bug that hid half of the content in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth, creator Edmund McMillen took to Reddit to further clarify and explain the situation. In a post that he hopes will “address a few things without spoiling anything else for those that care,” he talks about what happened with the game’s latest updates, and everything that led up to this point.

No one was upset at anyone at all there were was just a launch bug that caused missing items due to a "thing" that I can't talk about now

He clarifies that the missing items were “tied to a bug and a few other launch build issues and not at all intended to be missing from the game.” He also says that the development team was not aware of the missing content until a few days after launch. Because the content was supposed to be hidden he thought at first it simply hadn’t been found yet. It wasn’t until he played with a Steam debug copy that he saw several items were missing from the game entirely.

“i tried to address this without breaking the 4th wall on twitter and even showed 2 items so people knew the game for sure features 120+ but it ended up sending people down another path that i tried to stop by tweeting for people to not assume anything.. but the snowball kept rolling,” He continued.

He concludes by saying that “the small holes in this story (that i know for a fact more than a few of you know the reasons for) will all be addressed in a postmortem of what i can almost call a social experiment at this point,” and that those holes will “eventually” see the light of day.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is currently available on Steam, with all content included.
