June’s Pokémon Go Community Day is going to be one to remember for fans of the mobile game. The featured Pokémon this month is the one and only Deino, the base form of the pseudo-legendary Hydreigon.
This month’s Pokémon Go Community Day will feature all the usual things you would expect, like standard in-game bonuses and higher chances to catch the shiny version of the featured Pokémon. However, Niantic has gone above and beyond this time because they will be using this event to incorporate some exclusive features.
On this Community Day, there will be an opportunity to extend the event from its usual three-hour runtime in local areas by raiding gyms after the 11 am-2 pm window ends. These raids will also include the second form of Deino, which will hatch from a new kind of raid egg that can only be obtained by players in person – so if you thought you could use one of the many remote raids passes you’ve been storing, think again. Any completed in-person Zweilous raid will spawn 30 minutes of further Community Day spawns in a 300m radius of the gym until 7 PM local time that evening.
This decision comes after Niantic changed the duration of the Community Day from six hours to three hours, no doubt annoying some players in the process.
The company’s reasoning for decreasing the time frame seems a little bit backward as well; Niantic says they made the decision because the Community Day is all about players interacting in person, and the chances are supposedly higher when reduced to a smaller time frame. This is a mindset that many people won’t be able to get their heads around. Surely a larger window encourages more time playing and interacting with the game?
Try and take advantage of this upcoming Pokémon Go Community Day and all its offers whilst you can.
