Epic Games has announced a new game, Paragon, coming from the developer to a PC near you very soon; “early 2016” to be (somewhat) exact.
Not much is known about the project, not even what genre it will be, but given Epic’s history and a teaser video (see below) showing one of the games “hero” characters, Twinblast, toting two pistols, it might be safe to say Paragon will be a shooter of some kind.
Epic Games also launched a teaser site for Paragon with a splash page that reads, “Disocver a new hero each week and unlock unique in-game items.” Upon clicking “Begin” the user is taken to a static screen with narrow, vertical close-up shots of different characters in the game. The first, Twinblast, can be clicked on to be taken to the above teaser video with an overlaid text that reads, “Go in. Both guns blazing.” Upon clicking “Choose,” the user is presented four more options: “For Glory,” “For Pride,” “For Fortune,” and “For Infamy.” Upon clicking any of the four options, the user unlocks a piece of in-game equipment that can be saved by signing up for the Paragon beta.
It is unknown when the beta will begin, but the final character’s reveal date is set for Dec. 3, 2015. So, it stands to reason that the beta will occur sometime after that date, however that is speculation.
It’s surprising to hear of a new game from Epic Games with a release date so close. This, however, is not unprecedented. Last month, Ubisoft announced a new mainline entry in the Far Cry series called Far Cry Primal with a release date of Feb. 23, 2016.
