Star Wars Battlefront to Not Support Private Matches at Launch

October 16, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Maybe in a future update?

Star Wars Battlefront will not include support for private matches when it launches next month, the publisher revealed on its official Twitter account.

“Star Wars Battlefront will not have private matches at launch,” the tweet read.

Given that EA and DICE have not said whether the feature will be added in a future update, it has not been ruled out. Previously, EA and DICE have said that while Star Wars Battlefront will not include a server browser, like so many of DICE’s previous multiplayer shooters, it will supported dedicated servers. Additionally, the PC version of Battlefront was recently announced to not include in-game voice chat functionality. However, the required EA Origin client to play the game does include support for voice chat, circumventing the need for an additional, in-game voice chat option.

Star Wars Battlefront recently concluded its first open beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A prevailing sentiment amongst players was that the Walker Assault mode was too imbalanced and favored the side of The Imperials. EA and DICE have said that they will be rebalancing this game mode thanks to the feedback from the beta.

EA also recently announced a $50 season pass for Star Wars Battlefront that will grant access to four upcoming DLC packs with two-week advanced access to each, a “shoot first” emote, and more to be announced.
