Eidos has revealed some of the mechanics for Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
The cover system now allows you to aim at an object or place to take cover in, and then automatically run to it. Obviously this will save time, and has potential for some challenging levels.
Energy refills automatically. Furthermore, some augmentations do not need to regenerate energy at all, but these augmentations lower your total available energy. Thankfully, you can use Biocells to reset. It all adds up to a system that forces you to choose and use your augmentations carefully.
There is an Icarus Dash, which will allow you to simply navigate areas quickly, or dash towards alternate routes. It can also be used as an attack, called Icarus Strike.
The hacking mechanics look a little better but are functionally similar to how they worked in Deus Ex Human Revolution. Now, you can hack remotely too, and there’s a lot of potential to be borne out of increasing the range you can hack from.
Finally, about the weapons, they are modifiable in real time, and some weapons can be charged for more damage and special effects.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 23
