Minecraft: Story Mode is the upcoming adventure game from Telltale Games that's set in Mojang's Minecraft universe. It stars Patton Oswalt and a few other notable comedians who play the roles of some blocky dudes that go off on an adventure to save the world.
Like Telltale's other adventures, it'll be an episodic game with chapters released over the period of a few months. The first chapter will debut on October 13, which is when the game will be available digitally.
The first of five chapters is titled "The Order of the Stone", and will be available for individual purchase or through a season pass.
A physical edition is also planned for release on October 27, containing the first chapter and codes for the rest of the season. Amazon revealed the date last week.
Here's what the story's all about:
"You'll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond," the company said in its plot description. "You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse's friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion."
Telltale is developing the game closely with Mojang to ensure that the adventure feels like a part of the Minecraft world that millions of gamers are familiar with.
It'll be out on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PLayStation 4, Mac, and Wii U in October. A PlayStation Vita version and versions for the iOS and Android are also coming.
