Evil Dead: The Game Sales Top 500,000 in Under a Week

May 19, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The multiplatform release and cross-play capability helped.

Initially intended to be released in 2021, Evil Dead: The Game was first delayed in August of last year. Scheduled to hit shelves in February 2022, it was delayed for a second time, pushing it to May 13. Some fans were concerned, especially given the low-key launch of the title this past week. It looks like worrying wasn’t necessary, as the title has managed to sell over 500,000 units in five days.

Saber Interactive $EMBRAC has revealed Evil Dead: The Game has sold more than 500.000 units in the first 5 days after its release.

Inspired by the iconic horror franchise, the asymmetric multiplayer title supports cross-play across all platforms, making finding a party that much easier. With the exception of a few balancing issues and some issues with accessibility, the game is seeing rave reviews across the internet. “The game itself is certainly impressive in terms of its fresh gameplay and remarkable graphics,” said Kelsey Raynor at VG247. “and there’s good fun to be had for fans of Evil Dead and Sam Raimi.”

The impressive figure was announced during Embracer Group’s Q4 Report presentation, where Matthew Karch, CEO of Sabre Interactive, said that Evil Dead: The Game sales are looking better than World War Z, the studio’s previous title.

Karch also mentioned Evil Dead‘s impressive score on Metacritic, where it is currently ranking about 15 points higher than Dead by Daylight at launch.

Check out the description of the game below:

Inspired by the iconic horror, humor and action of the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead: The Game brings the series’ biggest characters together in a pulse-pounding battle with the forces of darkness. Work as a team of four survivors, including Ash Williams, Kelly Maxwell, Pablo Simon Bolivar, Scotty, Lord Arthur and more, to kick Deadite butt and banish the vile Kandarian Demon.

Or become the Demon yourself, using your powers of possession to stop the good guys dead and swallow their souls! Battle with more than 25 hard-hitting weapons and a variety of skill trees in multiplayer and bonus single-player missions to survive the night.

Evil Dead: The Game was released on May 13, 2022 for PC via the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
