Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One DVR functionality will only be available in the US, UK, and Canada when it initially launches.
The platform holder announced the feature during its gamescom press conference in Germany last week and stated that DVR functionality is expected to roll out in 2016.
A spokesperson for Microsoft told VG247 that release details for other regions such as Germany and France will be provided "at a later date."
DVR will be available for free and allows over-the-air TV and playback through streaming on various Windows devices, such as PCs and tablets via the Windows 10 Xbox and Smartglass apps.
An Xbox One Digital TV Tuner is available in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany in Europe. The console's launch in the region in 2013 was also limited to just a handful of countries, purportedly to allow for Kinect integration, when the system was released in most territories in Europe last year many regions still lacked Kinect functionality.
To make use of Xbox One DVR, you will need an external harddrive.
