The Guardians Of The Galaxy are a franchise that honestly shouldn’t be a franchise if you consider certain things. Not the least of which was before a certain director, they were a D-list superhero team in the Marvel Comics universe that only occasionally made appearances and whose most famous member was that of Rocket Raccoon. But then, because of James Gunn, he turned it into one of the most recognizable teams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and beyond, and a bunch of good things are happening with it to this day. Including, the making of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3.
This is aimed to be the final movie in their line, and Gunn himself has said that things will get emotional in the film and that it’ll be up to someone else to carry the torch should they want to. Filming is still going on for the film, and as such, certain things are being taken into account. Including how much practical effects are being used for the movie…and it’s a lot according to a tweet from Gunn:
“Just heard from our makeup folks at [Legacy Effects] that yesterday [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3] officially passed the World Record for ‘the most makeup appliances created for a single production’ (surpassing The Grinch),” Gunn wrote in the tweet. “Congrats, guys! Thanks for keeping practical effects alive!”
That’s a very interesting thing to hear as we know that GOTG does use a lot of VFX for characters like Rocket Raccoon and Groot, among other things of course. So you have to wonder just how big things are getting in the practical sense in order for them to achieve this record.
Either way, this is going to be a fun time when it comes time to release.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 arrives in 2023.
