All you Warhammer fans can sleep quietly tonight because the news you’ve all been waiting for has finally been revealed, the upcoming game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide finally has a release date, and the announcement also comes with a brand-new trailer as well. Although, before you jump out of your softly cushioned chair in excitement, you still have a few months to wait as the release date for PC and Xbox Series X|S is September 13th, 2022. Watch the trailer below if you haven’t already.
This upcoming first-person shooter is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe that first came into the public eye way back in 1987. Remember the days? You get back from school and begin painting those little figures until the lights went out and it was time for bed – a simpler time some might say. The game will use a similar formula to that used in previous Fatshark studio games like Warhammer: Vermintide 2, where four players join forces to defeat periodic waves of AI-controlled enemies.
A little about the story if you don’t know already, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will focus on a squad of Imperial Guardsmen who are investigating a potential Chaos infiltration on the planet Atoma Prime in the Hive City of Tertium – this may seem like gibberish to a non-Warhammer fan, right?.
A lot has changed in the franchise since those nostalgic riddled days of figure painting – that’s not to say those days don’t still exist but the franchise has moved on to bigger and better things. A series that has led to countless video games, several board games, collections of novels, and even movies. But it is these video games that are perking people’s interests these days, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has already seen a couple of postponements due to the COVID pandemic. Let’s forget about that though because the dream is now a reality, so make sure you get your copy when the game is released in the Autumn.
