In the words of developers, “New kingdoms are ready to be founded, and new dynasties will be honored worldwide as Crusader Kings III comes to PlayStation 5 today. In Crusader Kings III, players lead a royal family through the centuries, controlling characters and their heirs as they try to establish and protect their claims to land, titles, and glory. Warfare, spycraft, and diplomacy are all available and active fronts in the grandest historical adventure ever to come to Playstation.” The next-gen release of Crusader Kings III marks the first time the RPG has made its way to consoles, completely skipping the PS4 and Xbox One.
Similar to its predecessors Crusader Kings and Crusader Kings II, Crusader Kings III is a grand strategy game and dynasty simulator set in the Middle Ages. Players have the choice to start their journey in either the year 867 or 1066. The third installment to the series has a map that is four times more detailed than the previous game. It is also slightly larger, including Europe, part of Africa, and Asia as far East as Tibet. The objective of the game is to develop a dynasty over several centuries, with Crusader Kings III ending in 1453.
Several expansions have already come out for the game including Fashion of the Abbasid (Sepetember 2020), Northern Lords (March 2021), and Royal Court (February 2022). There’s certainly plenty of content to keep fans busy. Gamers can find Crusader Kings III on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
