Far Cry 6 to Add Stranger Things Crossover Event This Week

March 22, 2022 by Carley Garcia

Time to journey into the Upside Down.

With the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things set to premiere this May, fans are getting ready to return to Hawkins, Indiana and the Upside Down. Far Cry 6 is all too ready to jump on the trending television show with a new crossover mission called The Vanishing, which will be added to the game for free on March 24.

Very little is known about what the new mission will entail, but those who haven’t played Far Cry 6 yet will want to download the game for free from March 24 until March 27. Those who have a good time and want more time to explore will be able to grab the game for 50% off Far Cry 6 and 35% off the season pass. The Stranger Things crossover will be playable either alone or with a friend.

This highly-anticipated crossover was first teased last fall, though no exact release date was revealed. In the announcement Tweet, fans can watch a short teaser video featuring Far Cry 6‘s protagonist Dani Rojas holding a flashlight as she gets ready to journey into the elusive and terrifying Upside Down.

Far Cry 6 was released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Luna, and Stadia on October 7, 2021. The game takes place on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, which is ruled as a dictatorship by Anton Castillo. Raising his son to follow in his footsteps, players take on the role of guerilla fighter Dani Rojas and attempt to overthrow Castillo’s regime.

The title was initially praised for improving upon the typical gameplay formula but was heavily criticized for its lack of innovation. It’s clear that the developers are trying to change people’s minds by continuously adding DLC and add-ons. Previously, paid DLC packs invited fans of the series to play as popular villains like Pagan Min and Joseph Seed.
