Does Ghostwire: Tokyo Have Multiplayer?

March 17, 2022 by Carley Garcia

Can you wreck some spooky ghosts with your best buds?

Earlier this month, fans got to see 18 jam-packed minutes of Ghostwire: Tokyo gameplay ahead of its release on March 25, 2022. The Tango Gameworks title will see players using various psychic and paranormal abilities to defeat ghosts and spirits haunting the neon streets of Tokyo with flashy hand gestures. What’s more fun than casting spells and solving mysteries as you run through Japan’s capital? Doing it with friends!

Tango Gameworks previously released The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2, neither of which featured any multiplayer or co-op functionality. While Ghostwire: Tokyo seems like a game that would be a blast to play with friends, will that even be a possibility?

Will Ghostwire: Tokyo Feature a Multiplayer Component?

Currently, no multiplayer or co-op functionality has been announced for Ghostwire: Tokyo. The marketing for the title has ramped up in the past few months, with the release of gameplay footage, trailers, and details surrounding the game’s story and world. With so much information out in the world, if multiplayer content were coming, it likely would have already been announced.

Unless Tango Softworks makes a last-minute surprise announcement, it looks like you won’t be able to play this game with friends. Bethesda Softworks, the game’s publisher, isn’t known for putting multiplayer aspects into games that wouldn’t benefit from them.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released on March 25 for PC and as a timed console exclusive for PlayStation 5. A free visual novel is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
