New York-based game publisher Private Division has today released the news about some of their upcoming projects and has teamed up with several Indie studios to achieve the goals in their next chapter. It has been announced that the company has signed projects from studios all around the world, including Die Gute Fabrik, Evening Star, Piccolo Studio, and Yellow Brick Games – it’s sounds like they now have their fingers in many different pies.
So, with this news, let’s take a look at what projects are in the pipeline: The Copenhagen-based company Die Gute Fabrick will be creating another story-driven game, after their last title Mutazione became a great hit in 2020. American company Evening Star (who are known for their work on Sonic Mania) is working on an original 3D action platformer that uses its own propriety engine. The people over at Spanish developers Piccolo Studios (the brains behind Arise: A Simple Story) have also signed on with Private Division to work on a new IP. And last but not least, Quebec-based Yellow Brick Games are wanting to create an action RPG with emergent gameplay.
Private Division first came to prominence about 4 years ago and was a label created by Take-Two Interactive to help support independent developers, but with these four big new signings finally confirmed, it means there might be a change in how they operate from now on. Private Division VP of production Allen Murray and VP of marketing Tom Bass spoke out in a recent interview by saying, “Where we look at our portfolio strategy is that we are aligned with small developers. We’re working with the great minds over at Evening Star and Die Gute Fabrik, who in our minds are the great gaming talent of tomorrow, and what makes them great are their small and decisive teams.”
This is a big step for Private Division but is also looking like a really positive one. It gives the small developers they have teamed up with to operate on a much larger scale (under the Take-Two umbrella) for all of their ideas, as well as allowing PD to branch out and test the waters of a whole new range of exciting gaming genres.
