Call of Duty 2022 Needs BIG CHANGES Says Former Dev

January 3, 2022 by Viren

A tweet from @ModerWarzone surfaced on Twitter on December 31, 2021. The famous new channel on Twitter reports mainly Call of Duty news and states that the game feels like it is in “shambles”. The tweet also mentions that the Call of Duty franchise needs to be worked upon. From Warzone to Vanguard the post mentions that the franchise needs a little work as it all feels “chalked” now. The Tweet received a lot of positive responses as well as criticism.

Call of Duty is in shambles.

From Warzone, to Vanguard, to the pro league, to the amateur league. It’s all chalked rn.

The tweet made by MordernWarzone started trending on Twitter and caught the attention of former Creative strategist, Robert Bowling. Robert Bowling resigned from his position at Creative on March 26th, 2012. Upon seeing the tweet he felt the need to respond to the news channel with his opinion. He used to be the main source of information regarding the Call of Duty franchise. He told the community that it is time to build from the studs up.

It’s time to build from the studs up.

We need more than iteration, we need revitalization.

A focus back on core gameplay and not content gateways.

We used to treat our players like community and not consumers. We brought them in to the fold for map feedback not market feedback

— Robert Bowling (@fourzerotwo) December 31, 2021

Bowling also shared how he felt about Call of Duty straying away from their primary objective of making the players feel like a part of a community. He mentioned how the community is now treated as consumers and how they were brought in for map feedback and now are being used for market feedback. Robert feels like ever since he resigned from his position in March 2012, the focus of Call of Duty has changed from gameplay to content gateways. He believes that the game needs revitalization and needs to be brought back to the roots.

The fact that the Warzone was a battle royale has made Call of Duty trend all over again, but it seems like most of the community is disappointed with the change of approach. The whole community hopes that Activision and Creative studios take note of this tweet and implement the needed change for the game to please the veteran community as they are used to.
