Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4 Pulled From Capcom Pro Tour

May 28, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

We’re disappointed, but it’s still a better move than rushing a patch that could make things worse.

Ultra Street Fighter IV for PlayStation 4 had a pretty embarrassing launch the other day, with players being quick to report the bugs. Complaints and outrage arose over the slow pace of nearly everything, from the interface to the characters, and even invisible sonic booms.

In a statement posted on Capcom Unity, Capcom is acknowledging the players’ concerns, and saying that they’re investigating it. For now, they’re pulling the PS4 port of USF IV from the Capcom Pro Tour, saying, “the integrity of the Capcom Pro Tour is a top priority for us and we will continue to work with tournament organizers worldwide to ensure that the highest quality event will be run.” They’re promising updates as they look into the issues, as well as informing players of when the PS4 port will be integrated into the Pro Tour. That sounds a lot like Capcom telling us they’re really not sure if they can have a patch out soon, but it’s still a better move than rushing a patch, which could potentially make the glitches worse.

An extremely buggy release from a franchise that’s been around so long, we expect them to have everything down to an art, does not bode well for future releases. What happened here? Things were looking good when they announced the other day that their next project, Street Fighter V, will be playable at Community Effort Orlando (CEO) 2015. They need to fix this problem fast, or even reception of SFV might be affected.
