Silent Hills: Konami Responds to Cancellation Rumors

April 27, 2015 by Jacob Saylor

Though, they aren’t stating if the game has been canned.

Silent Hills was announced last year through P.T., a playable teaser that many found difficult to complete. I have personally made numerous visits back to the demo in an attempt to conquer it. After much trial and error, my friends and I were able to get through the teaser. It was one of the few single player games that really inspired teamwork. News of the game's untimely demise has many gamers particularly morose.

Konami, who was set to be publisher for the game, has finally made a statement regarding the supposed cancellation. Gamespot reports that The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus is no longer associated with Konami: "our contract period with Reedus has expired." This mirrors tweets coming from the actor's Twitter page that claim the project has been axed.

Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone 🍕 http://t.co/drZJ8tBsSN

Konami has also said that "We will continue to develop the Silent Hill series." This sheds absolutely no light on the possibility of Silent Hills ever making it on to store shelves, but things are looking pretty dire for the franchise reboot. This could have to do with the fact that Hideo Kojima is set to leave Konami after his work on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is done. If he isn't going to be associated with the project, then that would be a huge reason to not pursue it.
