343 Industries has shared details on a new beta test for an upcoming content update toHalo: The Master Chief Collection.
The content update seems to be quite important, as 343 says it brings fundamental changes to the matchmaking experience and party system. They remain mum on the details, but will share more information closer to release.
The beta is only available to members of the invite-only Xbox One Preview Program. Furthermore, they need to be in the US, have a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and have had a high level of engagement in the game. The beta sessions will be held anytime between tomorrow, January 23, through Monday, January 26. If you manage to get in the program, prepare 1 – 2 GB for the coming update.
News of the content update comes just a day after a group of disgruntled Halo fans pledged to not buy Halo 5: Guardians until 343 and Microsoft fixed issues with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. While the impact of the boycott to Halo sales seems insignificant at this point, it does point to a concern for 343 and Microsoft, which is loss of overall consumer confidence.
Of course, it is for this very reason that 343 is holding a beta for the update, to ensure it comes out with not additional bugs and / or does not create new problems upon release to the public.
Are you still playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Are you hopeful for this update, or are you with the people who have decided to boycott until the game’s issues are fixed? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
