Update: Around this time last year, Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls Online players would not require a PlayStation Plus account to play the game however, this has now changed.
A FAQ section on the MMO's website reads: "As with any standard multiplayer game on these platforms, an internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play."
Original Story: Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will drop its subscription model, but the game isn't going free-to-play, as newcomers will still need to buy the MMO.
The subscription fees will be dropped from March 17th. Those who are currently subscribed will then be automatically enrolled in a new program called ESO Plus. This service offers in-game items, a monthly crowns stipend, and all of the game's DLC.
In addition, Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online will be arriving on PS4 and Xbox One on June 9th. The console versions will include everything from the PC and Mac editions of the game, including the Justice and Champion add-ons which were released post-launch.
