The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy has just been announced for PC. Square Enix has given us word that the first game in the series, Final Fantasy XIII, is due for release on October 9, 2014. The game was rumored to appear on Steam just a few days back, after the Steam logo appeared on its website.
The game will be available to download through Steam and is set to be priced at a surprisingly low cost of $15.99, and is available for pre-order now through the digital service. Players who pre-order the game ahead of its release will receive 10% off from the asking price.
As with other games on Steam, Final Fantasy XIII will offer Steam Trading Cards for players to collect and exchange, though there’s no word on whether the game will offer cloud saves like some other Square Enix titles.
Final Fantasy XIII was originally released for the console in 2010 and brought the game to high-definition for the first time in the series’ history. Expanding on the traditions of the series, Final Fantasy XIII spawned two sequels: Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
According to Square Enix, the remaining two titles in the series will be released by next Spring.
