NBA 2K15 Overhauls Player Ratings, Only Four Players Over 90

September 3, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Fans contend the game has needed this overhaul for a while now.

NBA 2K15 will have a new ranking system. It is a huge break from the prior system, so much so that only four players are rated over 90.

This was revealed by 2K15 community manager Chris Manning on Twitter. Michael Jordan is in the game, and he is safely ranked above everyone else, at a steep 99. Cover star Kevin Durant is himself rated a 95. The other two players remain unrevealed, and Chris wants fans to make predictions.

There are many top players potentially in the running to be over 90. Our source names Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Russel Westbrook, James Harden, and Dwight Howard.

Many fans are preoccupied with speculation, but one may wonder why the ranking system needed a change in the first place. As is pointed out in this thread, the ratings for the NBA 2K games, and theNBA Live games for that matter, had too many players over 90. This might be satisfy some fans with favorite players, but it was detrimental to the game as a whole.

There is a lot of debate on who could make it in that thread as well, and for good reason. There are fewer players who deserve to be rated in the same class as Jordan and Durant. For years Lebron James was rated very highly. In fact, an op-ed criticized that his high ranking broke the game. It seems that this change was long overdue.

NBA 2K15 is coming on October 7 to Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
