PES 2015 PC Version is a ‘Hybrid’ of Last-Gen and New-Gen Versions

August 15, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

The PC version of PES 2015 features toned-down graphics compared to its new-gen console counterparts.

The PC version of PES 2015 is going to make some gamers very unhappy, as Konami has described it as a “hybrid” between new-gen and last-gen versions of the game.

Konami released details about the PC version of PES 2015 alongside 25 minutes of new gameplay footage, which you can see below.

According to PES European Brand Manager Adam Bhatti on Twitter, the PC version of the game contains the same modes and gameplay as the PS4 and Xbox One, but its visuals are a downgrade from the new-gen versions of the game, despite being an upgrade over the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Bhatti called the PC version “A hybrid really,” and added that the focus for the PC version was “accessibility and quality.”

“Anyway, our focus has been bringing back the gameplay. I don’t want threats or concern from PC users, judge the demo before shouting,” said Bhatti.

Needless to say, there is already shouting—especially in the responses to Bhatti’s post on Twitter.

One user asks: “why an hybrid? 1080p are already on PC, 60 fps are already on PC.”

That’s a very good question. It would appear that the PC version of the game was built on the last-gen engine rather than the next-gen engine, for reasons only Konami can fathom.

Earlier this week, Konami announced a PES 2015 release date of November 13 on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A PES 2015 demo for all console versions will be released on September 17. There’s no word on whether the PC crowd will get a demo version to play with.
