Battleborn, a new IP from Gearbox, has been announced for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in the latest issue of GameInformer.
The game is set in intergalactic first-person battle arena and brings the fast levelling seen in MOBAs to various online modes and a five player co-op campaign. GameInformer says, "The game's dramatic story assembles a universe's worth of disparate heroes, from an immortal samurai to a minigun-wielding giant, all battling over the last star in the cosmos."
Battleborn features a game mode called Incursion, a five versus five player mode said to be similar to games such as League of Legends and Dota 2 which combines first person combat with team based strategy.
The game is said to feature diverse enviroment and NPC robotic minions. "Players start on a level playing field at the beginning of each match, progressing along a streamlined skill path up to level 20 filled with customizable abilities that unlock a variety of different play styles. Many of these gameplay elements will also bleed into Battleborn's five-player cooperative campaign," the magazine writes.
As of yet, Battleborn does not have a release date but is set to be published by 2K.
