Duping Bug in Elder Scrolls Online Leaves Players Questioning Zenimax

April 18, 2014 by Yesika Reyes

An economy breaking glitch leads to the temporary shut down of guild banks.

In a post on The Elder Scrolls Online official forums, the developer has announced that the Guild Banks in the game has been temporarily disabled on the North American and European megaservers.

While there was no unspecified reason why it was taken down, the MMORPG's players know why it had to happen. This was apparently a response to a duping bug that broke the game's online economy by allowing players to create a myriad of duplicates of materials in their bank. This pumps billions of gold and rare items into the game. Thus, making these completely worthless since the supply exceeds the demand.

If you want to see how the glitch works, check out the video below. This is purely for informational puposes only and we only post this because players are unable to exploit it at present since the Guild Banks are disabled.

Unfortunately, players are unsatisfied with the temporary shut down because they claim that the damage has been done. Some have used social media platforms and forums to express their disappointment regarding Zenimax's delayed response to the bug. For some, this invalidates all the rewards they have accumulated throughout the game since it could have been acquired by many others easily when this glitch was still exploitable.

We will update this story once we hear more about it.

For now, check out our review of the game here. Perhaps, you'd also like to find rare items the old fashioned and fair way with the help of the treasure map guides we posted.

The Elder Scrolls Online was released on April 4, 2014 on Microsoft Windows and OS X platforms for $59.99 with a monthly subscription of $15. It will also be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this June.
