Treasure maps have always been a staple to the Elder Scrolls series of games and The Elder Scrolls Online is no different. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, TESO features treasure maps that have the potential to reward players with loot when the treasures they refer to are unearthed from the ground.
In the case of TESO, many of these treasure maps have been provided by its makers as an incentive to pre-order a digital or physical copy of the game. You’ll find them in your mailbox the moment you sign on. They’re consumed upon usage and you must have the map in your inventory to be able to see the Dirt Mound that allows you to dig up the buried treasures.
Accordingly, each treasure map gives out zone-level appropriate rewards that do not scale with your level and include 2 to 3 blue-ranked items.
