The Netflix streaming service is incredibly popular, we probably don’t need to tell you that. Almost everyone has an account for the movie and TV show streaming platform which ranges from classic hits to new releases. However, with more and more streaming services coming into play, there’s been a focus on creating original content.
Again, Netflix comes packed with all sorts of original movies and TV shows for viewers to enjoy. However, lately, there’s been a focus around adapting video game content. HBO recently came out with an adaptation announcement for The Last of Us while Netflix is bringing out Cuphead and Splinter Cell. Now we can add another title to the growing list for Netflix and that’s Beyond Good & Evil. This Ubisoft IP exclusive has grown to have a massive cult following with fans hoping for more news to come out regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2, a prequel that was announced several years after the release of the original installment.
While the news front for Beyond Good & Evil 2 has remained mostly silent, the news came out on The Hollywood Reporter that Ubisoft’s IP will be adapted into a movie for Netflix. In fact, there’s already a director behind the project which is Rob Letterman who directed Detective Pikachu and the live-action Goosebumps film starring Jack Black. Now his next project will be retelling the story of Jade as she joins a resistance movement to overthrow an alien invasion on their mining planet.
This is a newly announced project so we don’t know a whole lot yet about the project. While this is a movie adaptation, we’re not sure if there will be any changes or expanded narrative to fill out the storyline. At any rate, this project will likely keep some players interested although it may come down to what Beyond Good & Evil project finishes first. The prequel as mentioned hasn’t come up in the public limelight very much and this new movie adaptation doesn’t have much available to unveil for the public.
