Meet Evolve Assault Class Hunter Number One: Markov

January 15, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Turtle Rock is making playable characters with distinct abilities. Let’s cap things off with Markov, the brawn.

We have new information on the Hunters coming out of Turtle Rock’s latest thrilling action game, Evolve.

Evolve is going to have four classes for their hunters, but that’s not all there is to it. You can actually choose to play as a specific person within said class, and each one of these people have different stats and abilities. I would say that it’s comparable to Maniac Mansion; each combination of four hunters will push forward a unique, preferably path to conquering monsters. Well, at least that’s the theory.

The first hunter profiled for us is Markov, whose bald head and cyborg eye makes him look every bit the part of a Bond villain. Markov is under the Assault Class, and his ability is Personal Shield.

So, Markov is as straightforward a character as you are going to get. He’s the one in the frontlines, taking the brunt of the attack and also doling out the most damage. He’s got the health pool and restitution to take it, too.

Markov is armed with a lightning gun, which throws out deadly bolts up close, and a conventional assault rifle. He also comes equipped with arc mines, electronic charges detonated when the enemy hits them. Your teammates won’t trip them, although if they are near a blast they will take some damage. You can use the mines to pinpoint a target’s position, or force them to take particular paths.

The personal shield is standard to all assault class hunters, and will give them a brief protection from attacks. Each character has a different duration and optimal activation time for their shield. We have not been told of what metrics Markov has, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.

Evolve is slated for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam, and will be published by Take-Two Interactive.
