Quantic Dream Celebrates Its 23rd Anniversary By Self-Publishing

February 13, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

The studio now has total control.

For years Quantic Dream has become a household name for the Sony PlayStation line of consoles. After being around for 23 years now, the studio could have been considered a Sony first-party development studio but that wasn’t the case. Instead, Sony simply published the titles for Quantic Dream which has allowed the studio to produce a line of console games for the company. Going forward the studio will be able to publish its own titles.

It wasn’t long ago that Quantic Dream received funding from NetEase which gave them the ability to really become Independent. The future looked bright and now that they are celebrating its 23rd anniversary of being around, an official blog post was written on Quantic Dream’s website indicating all of their accomplishments. Highlighted in the post was the different games they had worked on over the years along with the various performers and composers that help bring life to the titles.

“And so, for the first time in 23 years of working with prestigious publishers, we are now in a position to self-publish.

This new venture will allow us to make decisions in total independence, and to address the technological and strategic opportunities of next-generation platforms. It will also allow us to help other developers, by providing investment and development support, so that they can fully express their talents. We want to support creators of original projects and help them, in turn, to achieve their vision and offer quality, ground-breaking experiences.”

Now that we’re officially in 2020, Quantic Dream’s is excited to self-publish their own video game projects along with delivering fans projects from other developers. Not only can they publish their own video game projects, but it seems that the studio is in the position to help publish titles from other interesting development projects. At the moment, we’re uncertain just what is coming out next from the studio, though it’s likely a game that won’t be just an exclusive to Sony.
