Grand Theft Identity? According to TMZ, perpetually distressed startet and multiple rehab attendee Lindsay Lohan has a bone to pick with GTA V. Allegedly the actress is currently "crafting a lawsuit" claiming that Rockstar Games used her image in the open world sandbox title, and will be pursuing damages. There is no word so far on how much money she is seeking however, the game amassed over one billion in sales during its first three days on market.
Does the lawsuit have any merit? As TMZ points out, the woman on the cover of GTA V and in promotional images most strongly resembles Kate Upton (or possibly Shelby Welinder). A mission involving a celebrity, Chateau Marmont, and a sex tape could possibly be a nod to Lindsay, as she's known to frequent the notoriously upscale hotel, but then, so do many "troubled starlets" in Hollywood. Another mission, in which the player escorts a celebrity back home while avoiding the paparazzi, could easily be a composite of any number of young blonde women working in the entertainment industry in LA. Most people identify Lohan as a redhead. One of her most iconic identifying features–her raspy voice–is also absent. Add to that, Ellen Page recently accused Naughty Dog of ripping off her likeness for use in The Last of Us, setting a precedent for easy publicity that probably looks pretty appealing to the cash-strapped and unemployed.
General consensus on TMZ's poll is that Lindsay's claim is baseless. What say you, Gameranx readers? Does Lindsay Lohan stand a chance against Rockstar Games?
