The Witcher Already Has Seven Seasons Planned

November 4, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Netflix’s Original series may be around for years to come.

There is a ton of attention placed on The Witcher, a series that is coming out to the Netflix streaming service. Based on the novels by the author, Andrzej Sapkowski, not only does the series appeal to the fans of the novels but gamers who may have experienced a different version of The Witcher through the means of CD Projekt Red’s video game trilogy adaptation. Regardless of where the fan base is coming from, there are a few years worth of seasons already planned out.

If you’re looking for another fantasy series to dwell within for the long haul then you might find that in The Witcher. Its first season is set to appear on the Netflix streaming service starting next month, December 20, 2019. For those that are eager to see a new medium of Geralt and an adventure full of monster-fighting then the countdown has already begun. But, depending on how well this season does in terms of views could mean gaining additional seasons will be easier to greenlight.

We don’t know just yet if The Witcher will have a long lifespan on Netflix, but when it comes to the production team, there are already seven seasons worth of content that the show could go through. That information was reportedly claimed in an issue of SFX magazine. Speaking with Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner of The Witcher, admitted that they had enough story to span across seven seasons at the current moment. It’s all about making sure there is enough story development for The Witcher rather than solely focusing on this first season.

It seems that it will depend on the viewer reception as to if there is enough attention to warrant Lauren Hissrich and the rest of her team to dive into more of The Witcher world. Again, we don’t have a long wait now before we can determine if The Witcher was worth the anticipation and hype. If you own a Netflix subscription service then you’ll be able to enjoy The Witcher starting on December 20, 2019.
