When it comes to survival horror titles, we haven’t seen too many mainstream game franchises picked up and released for current-generation platforms. Outside of Capcom’s Resident Evil series, we’re left with missing out on some of the other iconic franchises. For instance, we’ve been hearing rumors online and murmurings that perhaps a new Silent Hill title would be in the works. Unfortunately, that game turned out to be another slot machine. Now we may get another survival horror franchise return and that’s with Fatal Frame.
Fatal Frame has been around for several years as players fought off demons and ghosts through the use of a camera-like device. It hasn’t received a new installment since 2014 when an installment called Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water ended up launching on the Nintendo Wii U. Of course, that particular platform didn’t hit the strides Nintendo had intended.
Now a new interview with Nintendo Everything and Keisuke Kikuchi revealed that the Fatal Frame producer wouldn’t mind going back and bringing out a new installment for the Nintendo Switch platform. The interview itself was about the upcoming Fairy Tail RPG, but he did make mention that a Fatal Frame IP for the handheld console would be a ton of fun. Of course, there is no official announcement of a video game title being in the works and this is nothing out of the ordinary when developers talk about bringing back an IP for a new generation of platforms.
For now, it’s purely a waiting game to see if this game would come to fruition. With that said, would you like to see a return to the Fatal Frame franchise that would be a Nintendo Switch intended exclusive?
